Schweitzer’s cross country trails are challenging and some can even be daunting for inexperienced skiers. This route gives a good sampling of what’s available, avoids the most difficult, offers amazing views and provides a base for further exploration. The round trip is 8 miles, but there are many rewarding and satisfying intermediate destinations.

Schweitzer Routes
This map presents some of the Schweitzer trails as “routes,” combinations of trail segments to get you from one point to another. This, we hope, will help you make sense of the more confusing parts of the trail system. Mapping the Schweitzer trails in a way that makes them understandable is a bit of a challenge. Part of the problem may be that the signs on the trails must serve both summer mountain bikers and winter skiers and there are quite a few differences between the two trail systems. We try to give descriptions which match the signs you will see when you are out there but we have invented a new junction, Rendezvous, for which there is no sign and included a known junction, Bone Yard, for which there is also no sign. Once you get to know the Schweitzer trails, you will probably won’t need this map. The map is to help you get started.
